Welcome
to my “Under Sail” exhibition.
As
some of you may know, I’m fascinated by painting water.
The water…the effects of wind and wave, they’ve been important
“characters” in
my paintings for almost a decade now.
I don't know why, but I'm calmer around
or out on the water.
The water makes me feel at ease, as well as inspired when
I’m at
the creek’s edge, the beach or at a marina.
Maybe it is because boats symbolize the "journey" or the "adventure
to come." Or perhaps they're just an escape? I've heard it said
that the adventure
starts when you can't see the shore anymore. I'm ready to leave the
shore for a while...
The
graceful line of boats under sail is fascinating to me. It excites my
spirit. I love
painting the full sails, the reflections and the happy souls
aboard the boats.
I've
had fun putting this show together it’s a reflection of the last 6
years of my life,
as my husband and I have lived full time aboard our boat.
It’s been a great adventure
up and down coasts and to far flung islands meeting wayward souls and
friendly folk.
