 Artist's Notes on Poppies

My teaching trips to Italy have been in mid June each year for the last  4 years. It's been incredible, but mostly the poppies are almost gone by the time we arrive.

But one year ... one glorious year...
 It rained steadily for 3 weeks just before we got there.  By the time we arrived at the Contessa's  Farm there were blue skies and 
vibrant  red poppies everywhere!
