We are pleased to announce that
Karen's first full-color art book (107 pages) is available
now.
The book, entitled
"Karen Hewitt Hagan, An American Impressionist"
showcases more than 65 full color images of oil paintings from Karen's plein air painting excursions to the Abaco Islands, Italy and throughout the Southeastern U.S.
The introduction and book design was prepared by Michelle Morton. Michelle is an arts writer
and publicist for nationally and internationally acclaimed artists and the owner of
Morton Arts Media.
With this book,
Karen relates her experiences as a professional artist and a boater with readers who share
her passions for art, adventure and the ocean. The book offers readers a glimpse of
a painter's life living aboard. Many of the images in the book were painted in
Karen's studio on the aft deck of the boat or completed en plein air in beautiful locales such as wind-swept islands or Tuscan hilltops.
A section of the book is devoted to Karen's Artist's Notes
where
she describes her painting experiences and the emotional impact of a particular spot and how
she captures a
"sense of place" for the viewer with
her paints and brushes.
